Senior Accountant

SUMMARY

Ensure professional and ethical financial practices and a cohesive finance service offering to Stupp Bridge Company that is aligned with its business strategy.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare monthly journal entries and assist in the preparation of month-end financial statements.
  • Perform gross margin analysis of open contracts based on percentage of completion revenue recognition.
  • Perform general ledger analysis of accounts and prepare various bank and general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Assist in the development of quarterly financial statement forecasts.
  • Maintain credibility for the finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends in order to assist the Controller and CFO in performing their responsibilities.
  • Perform various cost analyses, key metric calculations, and financial modeling to assist with production improvements and expense management.
  • Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the business.
  • Coordinate with independent auditors and provide all required documents and information to complete the annual financial statement audit.
  • Review contract details and prepare accounts receivable billing documents.
  • Prepare government filings and tax reports, including annual, quarterly, and monthly reports.
  • Analyze workers compensation and health insurance reserves.
  • Review payroll input documents and post payroll transactions to general ledger.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Effectively guide and develop workgroups
  • Delegate appropriately within and between businesses
  • Provide direction and opportunity to workgroups

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical skills in budgeting, cost analysis and month-end close responsibilities, etc.
  • Ability to work with large amounts of data, interpret financial records, detect errors, and prepare financial reports.
  • An ability to plan and manage multiple projects.
  • The successful candidate should have excellent computer (Excel and Word) skills; exceptional problem-solving abilities and good organizational skills.
  • Ability to express ideas effectively orally and in writing.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High performance in teams and a strong team player.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Minimum of four years of progressive experience in finance and accounting.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.
  • Work experience in a manufacturing or contract work environment and experience with percentage of completion revenue recognition preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems preferred.

SOFTWARE PROFICIENCY MS Office w/advanced skills in Word and Excel. Experience with commercially available accounting software products

LANGUAGE SKILLS Superior verbal and written communication skills

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Strong background

REASONING ABILITY Judgments should reflect sound reasoning and business practicality. Exceptional analytical ability

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS CPA License preferred but not required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS General office with an ability to travel. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
