Manufacturing Engineer

SUMMARY/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Individual contributor that manages key capital projects and improvement initiatives.  Will be responsible for coordinating the long-term capital plan and managing capital projects that utilize both internal and external resources.  This position reports to the VP of Operations. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

• Manages key capital projects including:
  • Facility maintenance projects
  • Equipment rebuild projects
  • Equipment replacement and upgrade projects
• Designs and implements machine guarding improvements by integrating mechanical and electrical devices such as fencing, interlocks and light curtains
• Works closely with Continuous Improvement team to support 5S to improve workplace safety & organization and Standard Work, including improvement of work estimate standards
• Evaluates new equipment and technology applications to improve operational efficiency
• Utilizes project management methodology, to define and deliver projects within proposed timelines and budgets
• Works with maintenance manager to establish new equipment preventive maintenance requirements
• Designs equipment, tooling and fixtures using Autocad 2D and Tekla 3D programs
• All other duties assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience managing large capital projects
• Hands-on maintenance or equipment design/build experience including electrical and mechanical systems
• Experienced with 3D modeling
• Continuous improvement experience with 5S and Standard Work in a manufacturing environment
• Strong mechanical and electrical systems understanding of plant facility and equipment
• Experience establishing Preventive Maintenance requirements for equipment
• Complete work both independently and through others in a timely manner.
• Undertake self-development activities. Take independent action. Ask for and offer assistance whenever needed.
• Ability to interact professionally with others; including co-workers, vendors, customers and industry professionals.
• Problem solving ability to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work-related problems. 
• Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Office Applications.
