Maintenance Lead

Summary 

The Lead Maintenance Technician is responsible for safely leading a team of mechanics in the performance of assigned duties that include but are not limited to troubleshooting, repair, installation and period maintenance of plant equipment and facilities.  Completed work must meet a level of quality in accordance with accepted industry best practices.

• Ability to ensure personal and team member compliance with applicable PPE.
• Ensure safety of immediate work area when performing maintenance duties.
• Allocate labor resources as needed based on production priorities and skill set of assigned mechanics.
• Must be able to complete required records associated with work and specific work assignments.
• Perform installation and maintenance of basic electrical components to acceptable levels of quality.
• Ensure maintenance operations involving crane support are planned, rigged and performed in a safe and efficient manner.
• Oversee performance of preventative maintenance (PM) on equipment within timeframe and applicable guidelines of PM program.
• Be able to effectively collaborate with peers and outside vendors when necessary to achieve desired results.

• Implementation and sustainment of 5s principles within maintenance shop. 
• Safely operate cranes, hoists, forklifts, aerial and scissor lift equipment in support of maintenance duties.

Qualifications

• Experience in operating and maintaining overhead cranes is highly desirable.
• Possess advanced understanding of crane rigging.
• Experience in maintaining industrial welding equipment is highly desirable.
• Understanding of basic electrical principles.
• Experience with Programable Logic Controls and Variable Frequency Drives is highly desirable.
• Capable of operating hand, power and specialized tools in a safe manner.
• Possess advanced understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanics.
• Possess solid computer skills to include Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
• Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is desirable.
• Must be able to use tape measures, rulers, calipers, micrometers or other precision measuring instruments in performance of duties.
• Must be able to read mechanical prints and electrical schematics.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to perform basic mathematical computations.  Possess basic understanding of statistics and their application in data analysis.

• Forklift, scissor and aerial lifts
• Overhead cranes and jib hoists
• Welding guns, cordless drills
• Grinders and other hand/pneumatic tools
• Band saws, drill presses, machine lathes

Education/Experience

• High School diploma required. Associates degree or higher preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience.
• Position may require external and internal training for specific equipment and/or general knowledge.
